Imperial College London’s Department of Earth Science and Engineering is a multi-disciplinary department, integrating fundamental earth science research with related petroleum, minerals and environmental engineering. The research group on ALIGN-CCUS is internationally recognised for its research into reservoir characterisation, conventional/unconventional fossil fuels production performance and risk assessment, multiphase and compositional simulator development, Life Cycle environmental impacts, and clean energy and CO2 storage technologies.

Internationally, the group is represented in the IEA GHG Modelling, Monitoring and Risk Assessment Networks; the EU Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plant Technology Platform (ZEP) Network on Technology, and is a founding member of the CO2GeoNet Association, the European Network of Excellence on Geological Storage of CO2.
