University of Edinburgh

WP5, WP6, WP0

The University of Edinburgh has a strong track record in many aspects of CCS research, especially geology and engineering but also understanding public and community perceptions and mechanisms for better engagement. The School of GeoSciences’s recent work includes creating a toolkit for public engagement on CCS for the Scottish Government and participating in EU projects working on public perceptions and engagement issues (SiteChar, ECO2) and low-carbon R&D (LowCarbon R&Dialogue). The university will undertake research to measure and understand public perceptions of CCS and develop more effective communication of key messages to local communities and key stakeholders.

UoE will also be responsible for vital knowledge exchange and overall project dissemination activities within WP0, in conjunction with WP leads through regular contact on progress. The Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage (SCCS) team, [www.sccs.org.uk] within the UoE School of GeoSciences, includes communications professionals with extensive experience of presenting research results to intended audiences through a range of activities. SCCS is also experienced in maintaining websites, organising prestigious CCS events, preparing and printing project reports and media engagement.
