Preparing for large-scale transport networks for offshore storage of CO2
To optimise large-scale transport of CO2 to suitable storage sites, modelling studies will seek to reduce uncertainties in technical feasibility, cost, and the safety of marine CO2 transport and injection into geological formations. The research team will consider the technological challenges of CO2 shipping and offshore offloading, and create guidelines for developing flexible transport and storage networks. A bespoke CO2 transport planning tool for each industry cluster will be developed. In tandem, laboratory work will help to guide CO2 composition requirements for pipeline transport.
